Description
Ragtime has seen many changes in its public persona since its birth in the late 1800s to its peak popularity with the release of the movie “The Sting” in the 1970s. Originally intended to be the first iteration of truly American Classical Music, racial associations and cultural constraints relegated the performance of this intricate piano style to barrooms and brothels, where it is most often heard today. This collection of ragtime aims to highlight the elegance of the style, the colorful chords and clever composition techniques that make it such an interesting genre to me. I hope you enjoy it!
